Aug 24, 2006 * Tour Dates now floating at top of news * More confirmed shows! * Aug 30 Toronto show is both ALL AGES and EARLY EARLY EARLY!!! * Fifth Anniversary * Full song titles & more news about split 12" single with Anagram. + As you may have gathered, the Tour Dates have been moved to the top of this page. You may also note that newly confirmed shows & details are listed above. Check back anytime. These tour listings will remain at the top of this page until the tour is over. They will be updated until the day the tour starts. The most recent additions are Oct 20 in Guelph and Sept 25 in New Orleans. + It is the Fifth Anniversary of The Creeping Nobodies. The first show wasn't played until September 21, 2001 - HOWEVER - it was the summer of 2001 that the band took shape and started rehearsing and writing songs. Throughout July and into August of 2001 it became clear that The Creeping Nobodies had been born. Since there's no exact date that can be determined as the crucial moment where the band became aware of itself as a full-fledged & undeniable entity; the anniversary can then be celebrated all summer long, or, at any random point between July and September that feels correct. The fifth anniversary of the very first show by The Creeping Nobodies will be celebrated Sept 21 in Phoenix, Arizona at Trunk Space. Unlike the time & space in which to celebrate the formation of the band, this date is not interchangeable with any other. + The new Anagram/Creeping Nobodies Split 12" vinyl EP is on track for completion in time for the start of The Creeping Nobodies U.S.A. tour on September 6. October 13 still slated as release date. Full track listings as follows: The Creeping Nobodies 1. Sacrosanction 2. Psychic Weapons Anagram 1. Mt. St. Capt. Doom 2. Manic Indulgence It's strictly limited to 500 copies, custom designed by Doublenaut, & very good for listening. As previously mentioned on this page, the Split 12" will be co-released by Dead Astronaut & Blocks Recording Club, and (as also mentioned), both bands will be playing shows at the end of October in Montreal, Toronto, Oshawa, Waterloo, Guelph, and more. + Next Show! Please note that the August 30 show at the Tranzac is an EARLY show. The show is both All Ages & also STARTING at 8pm and FINISHED before midnight. To mark the special occasion of this show, we have some new buttons/pins that we will make available, thanks to Jeff, Sarah & also to Tim of Allumette. Jeff McMurrich will be at the controls once more, again at Halla Music, as had happened with the most recent Creeping Nobodies recording: the Half Saboteur EP on Bloodworks Music.
Two days ago, the live-to-air session on January 18 at CFRE in Mississauga did occur. It took place during (and in support of) the station's fundraising drive. The following songs were played: Sound Of Joy Willing Spirit Sense Of Belonging Golden Apples (Country Teasers) Follow The first three songs listed above are the songs that will be recorded this weekend at Halla Music. The Country Teasers cover version was first heard at The Boat with Indian Jewelry and Broken Tree Fort last November. Studio: Shortly after the above radio session, The Creeping Nobodies are due to go back to Halla Music with Jeff McMurrich (this is how Half Saboteur was recorded) to record a few more songs for a forthcoming full length release. November 1, 2005 Out now!!! The Half Saboteur EP!!! In case you missed the Toronto show celebrating the new EP, there is one more show planned in Toronto for 2005: Thursday November 3 at The Boat in Kensington Market. Full Details... Future Primitive presents: (158 Augusta Avenue -- North Of Dundas) Doors 9:30pm
+ MORE !!! ... Also on November 3; we urge you to try to find a way to attend the
opening of a new exhibit of art by Brooklyn artist James Morrison at the Open Studio Gallery. (401 Richmond St. W - Suite 104) The Creeping Nobodies first met James on a very special night in Knoxville, TN when he was performing with NTX+Electric (who are now Indian Jewelry -- we met them that night, too, another reason the night was special) & James was wrapped up in a sheet like a ghost waving around a bright light while milling through the audience and/or rolling on the floor. Since then friendship has endured between James Morrison, Indian Jewelry & The Creeping Nobodies. That another special night involving all these people can occur in Toronto is an exciting thing, indeed.
October 3, 2005 The official release show for the Half Saboteur EP is nearly here! A Toronto & Montreal show are planned for Oct 15/16, with some U.S. shows accompanying! The official release show will take place October 15th in Toronto at Trin-Port, located on Ossington St. just slightly North of College St. The line-up will include No Dynamics (Also on Bloodworks!) and Old Time Relijun (K Records), the latter of which will be performing a number of shows with The Creeping Nobodies around this time. Also of note is that Old Time Relijun are currently promoting their new full-length entitled 2012, and that the No Dynamics 12" (again, also on Bloodworks) is barely a month old. More shows will surround this one, including one in Buffalo the night before & one in Montreal the night after. Several shows are planned to follow. All the details, as known thus far, are below: 10/14/2005 - Mowhawk Place, Buffalo, NY w/ Old Time Relijun . 8pm 10/15/2005 - Trin-Port, Toronto, ON (249 Ossington St.) w/ Old Time Relijun, No Dynamics . 9pm . $8 10/16/2005 - Casa Del Popolo, Montreal, QC (4873 Boul. As for the tour just past, it was a strange time in which to be travelling through America, in the wake of the devastation unfolding in the South from the Hurricane (and later yet another Hurricane). It was, indeed, impossible not to feel the effects of the catastrophe, especially the further South we travelled. And yet, we experienced all ranges of reactions, thought, and opinion, which only further drove home the point that there is much more to consider and so many more sides to see than could ever be covered in terms of a brief summary or even three straight weeks of reporting. Before the show in Charlottesville, an older gentleman got up and took the stage to plead to younger generations (of now & yet to come) not to be complacent or to forget those who died in New Orleans. He pointed out that racism is still alive and well in America, though, it has abated much through his time, and will likely abate more as time goes on, but he stressed that it is still in our hands not to turn away from events like this and forget. It is up to us, our children & our grandchildren to make sure that more poor people don't have to die in vain or be left behind. He then broke into a song of hope & freedom, urging us to be happy, positive & free; and to ask for this for everyone in equal measure. This is just one example of the many moods that existed at the time. And also just one of the ways that the full gravity of the situation would be brought to attention front & centre. And despite all the horrible news, despite the criticism & reports of the day, despite meeting still-shocked, confused & rather defeated "refugees" of New Orleans staying in Mississippi or Tennessee, with their "blood-money" cheques from the Government and the sad knowledge that it could never be enough to compensate the true losses that took place in that time... Despite all this, we also couldn't help to find many positive & encouraging things, too. We met incredible people, we saw amazing things, we visited & stayed in places and spaces where a sense of caring, compassion, community & generosity of spirit exist. To name a few, there was Nuci's Space in Athens, GA., with its outreach programs for anyone in need of any type of help, no matter who, how, where or why. There was The Firehouse in North Manchester, In., a converted Fire Hall that put on shows & events & where high-school students are encouraged to (& do) take an active role in running things. There was The Shed in Palmer, MA., a little shed in a backyard which could support a whole scene & offer an alternative space for touring bands to stop and play. And there was The Werehouse in Winston-Salem, with a beautiful venue, an excellent roastery & a place for many to stay, to meet & to find involvement in one of many arts-based activities & events. This is just a small reflection on a mere three weeks of touring. The bands we played with, the people we met, the friends we visited or who visited us, the many who helped us out, all of those who saw us & introduced themselves to us, all of this is part of what makes playing & touring so exciting & memorable. We had a wonderful tour and can't wait to play more shows at home and away. We hope to see you all again.

July 25, 2005 Yes, it's been busy lately. In between recording & mixing a new EP, preparing to return to New York City for the final mixing session for the next full-length, and playing a few shows here and there; we have also been booking an American tour and writing new songs. In fact, amongst all the shows we've listed in the news & shows page, there was also a slightly secret one that we found time to play in our practise space a little while ago. This show occured on Sat. June 25 & included James Anderson playing a solo set, Tradition playing as a duo, The full complement of The Creeping Nobodies & Jon Rae and The River. The most recent show we played was just a couple of days ago in Port Dover. There was a cancellation and Hallucinagenetics didn't get a chance to play because the Legion Hall shut down the show before it was over. Our set, however, wasn't stopped! The show listing is below, just for history's sake: Port Dover : July 22 at The Legion (212 Market Street) w/ Jerry Can, Inflation Kills, Pardon my Goat (Cancelled) & Hallucinagenetics (Didn't play). That show will represent our last show for a month or so, while we finish up recordings & while Sarah tours the U.S. with Memories Forever. The next Creeping Nobodies show is on August 21 in Toronto with Aids Wolf. This show will kick off both Aids Wolf & The Creeping Nobodies for respective tours of the USA. The Creeping Nobodies will be playing shows starting
Fri Aug 26th until Sat Sep 17th in the Eastern United States of America. Confirmed so far are shows in Plattsburgh, Palmer, Boston, NYC, Providence, Baltimore, DC, Charlottesville, Greenville, Chapel Hill, Knoxville, Memphis, North Manchester, Pittsburgh & Buffalo. More to be announced. Contact us, as ever, through creeping@thecreepingnobodies.com to find out more or to make enquiries. As for the next record release, the recording of an EP has been occurring in the last week with Jeff McMurrich at Halla Music and in Jeff's home. The last of the recording & most of the mixing will occur tomorrow. The EP will be relesaed on vinyl and is part of a series which has been conceived of by Rob Godon. He is also assisting with the production of the recording(s). The first EP in the series will be released by No Dynamics on August 19 and 20th at The Bagel on College St. in Toronto. The Creeping Nobodies will release the second record in the series shortly thereafter. This is, of course, not the only recording being finished. The follow-up to last year's Stop Movement Stop Loss is nearing completion. The last weekend of July will see the final session of mixing for the album, once again at Fun City Studio in NYC. The songs will then be mastered & released as a full-length CD in the f-u-t-u-r-e.

May 25, 2005 What of Montreal, you might ask? Well... After a slight bit of unbridled enthusiasm after the show at the Electric Tractor, two Creeping Nobodies went spinning, lurching and crashing into a table full of glasses & bottles. It seems spinning someone around and losing your balance isn't a smart thing to do, afterall. Sarah escaped with bruises and minor abrasions while Derek received three stitches to one ear after spending eight hours sleeping upright in the emergency room of Jean Talon Hospital. No matter, though. The night was memorable, and the memorable part was before the unfortunate antics & emergency room visits. The show was fantastic & Electric Tractor's 1st birthday (and only?!!) was a fine one! Shows!!! June 2 - TORONTO Xspace (303 Augusta Avenue) w/ Sightings (Load Records) & N!fty -- Doors 9pm $8 adv/$10 door ++ Also you can check futurprimitive for updates, if you'd like. & June 11 - GUELPH Ed Video (16 A Wyndham St. N.) W/ Mary Carl -- Doors 8:30 $7/PWYC ++ Also you can check royalcitymusic for updates, if you'd like. Of course there are more shows to announce soon. And more things to talk about. And more plans to share... But let's not confuse things just yet... Happy summer! / The Creeping Nobodies..
May 1, 2005 The Creeping Nobodies have, indeed, just finished further recording and mixing in New York City! It was quite exciting and productive to return to Fun City Studios and work with Wharton Tiers. The sessions remain slightly unfinished at this time, even after extending to an unexpected extra day and involving unforseen temporary setbacks. The result of these sessions (so far) is ten new tracks (a couple as of now never previously performed or heard.) Two more tracks from the previous October recording sessions are to be mixed in the near future. These recording/mixing sessions were a true joy, but exhausting. James Anderson took an overnight bus to add some very special overdubs to the recordings at hand and left the same day in time to return home to take one of his children to daycare. The Creeping Nobodies were well looked after by some very accomodating & friendly friends. The act of leaving the city was complicated by further van failures, resulting in the towing (and near undoing of a tow-truck) and an hour-long inspection at a Brooklyn garage. This familiar wrinkle in plans also resulted in a four-hour pause to sleep in the van at a rest-stop in Upper State New York since it refused to start. Thankfully it thought better of this decision just after the break of dawn and the trick of fueling the vehicle with the motor running was met without any negative complication. All these many things combined to make an interesting and satisfying trip. And now, there are more details about the next show The Creeping Nobodies will be playing. It is still happening, as promised, in Montreal on Thursday, May 12 with The Chinese Stars. The newest news is that The Hot Springs have also been confirmed, and that the show will be in celebration of the first anniversary of the Electric Tractor venue. This is all good cause for celebration, to be sure. The show is being co-presented by Mandatory Moustache and Blue Skies Turn Black. Full/official/nicely-laid-out details look something very much like this:
Madatory Moustache & Blue Skies Turn Black present: (Electric Tractor 1 year anniversary!) THE CHINESE STARS (Providence RI - GSL - ex-Arab on Radar, Six Finger Satellite) THE CREEPING NOBODIES (Toronto ON) THE HOT SPRINGS (Montreal QC) 8:00pm $8 / $10 (tickets on sale in advance) The Electric Tractor 6674 de l'Esplanade (corner of St Zotique)
April 15, 2005 The Creeping Nobodies will be recording in New York City, again at Fun City Studios with Wharton Tiers, at the end of April. This will mark the second session (the last one occuring back in October 2004) recording brand new songs for future new things. Thursday, May 12 will see a return visit to Montreal's wonderous venue Electric Tractor, to play a show with The Chinese Stars with yet-to-be announced guests to be added to the bill. More details to come, or visit the above link to get the update straight from the horse's mouth, as it were. Best wishes to Indian Jewelry on the rest of their tour. The set they played last night at Sneaky Dee's was nothing short of amazing. Please don't forget to check out their stuff online, they have a page of all the music they have been making in their various guises over the years. The show last night felt special from beginning to end. Updates to this site have been happening greater frequency these days, so please feel free to check back occasionally as 2005 is turning out to be a busy year. Note also that the links section of this site has been much expanded lately, and will hopefully provide for some interesting things to investigate if you have the time. Happy spring!

Visit their website to find out more about them & hear samples of the music they made in all their many incarnations. April will also see The Creeping Nobodies travelling back to New York City to record more music for upcoming release later this year. The recording will involve a return to Fun City Studios to continue working with Wharton Tiers. Spring & early summer plans include more shows around and outside Toronto, for instance, June 11 in Guelph at Ed's Video.
